Housing Choices - State Street Village (SSV)
State Street Village is the newest residence hall at IIT. SSV consists of three, five-story buildings facing State Street and backing up to the Chicago Transit Authority's Green Line elevated train. The buildings will contain 367 beds in two suite style buildings (two students per bedroom) and one apartment-style building (one student per bedroom).
Both apartments and suites contain bathrooms which are shared with no more than three others. State Street Village accommodates 367 students. Two-thirds of those students will live in suites.
State Street Village provides the following amenities:
- 24-hour security attendant at each building entrance
- Voice, data and television jacks in every suite, bedroom, living room and lounge area
- Each SSV resident is provided a dresser, desk, desk chair, and twin bed & frame.
- Extensive audio/visual displays in the main lounge of each building to include a 50" HDTV plasma display, surround sound, a Proscan DVD player, a carousel CD player and terrace speakers
- Individual temperature controls for heating and cooling in each suite and apartment
- Thin-slat blinds for all suite and apartment windows
- Complete furniture package in private and common areas
- Fifth-floor lounge in each building plus two fifth-floor outdoor terraces offering panoramic views
