McCormick Student Village is comprised of six interconnected residence halls that provide that opportunity. Each serves as a social center and study hall. Living on campus exposes you to people from across the United States and from dozens of countries from across the globe. Friendships are formed here that last a lifetime. IIT is strongly committed to the educational value of on-campus living. Because of this commitment, all freshmen not residing with their families are required to live in IIT campus housing.
The residence halls at Illinois Institute of Technology provide spaces for students to study and socialize in floor lounges, student rooms and the MSV central lounge known as the Loop. These lounges are just the place to unwind from a full day of classes and extracurricular activities. Residents on each floor typically set their own study hours and quiet times, and agree on other guidelines for conduct. Leaders from each hall belong to the Residence Hall Association (RHA), which helps organize intramural sports, concert outings, coffee houses, film screenings, and other social activities.
The typical IIT residence hall room is approximately 11 feet by 16 feet. But there is nothing typical about how IIT students make this space their own. Each room comes completely furnished, with desk & study chair, dresser, twin extra-long mattress and frame. All rooms are carpeted and most rooms are air-conditioned. Rooms are equipped with phone jacks, so that students can plug in their own phone and make free on-campus calls. Off-campus calls are made possible through our secure AT&T ACUS System. Residents living in campus housing can access the internet thru the IIT wireless network or by using the network port in their room. Laundry facilities and study lounges, as well as computer labs are located in the basements of the complex .
